NAMI, short for the National Alliance on Mental Illness is the largest organization in the US committed to enhancing the lives of the countless Americans impacted by mental illness. They offer resources, support groups, and a helpline as well as much more.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project offers tons of resources for LGBTQIA+ youth as well as questioning youth who are seeking support. They also offer a 24/7 crisis hotline where you can connect with a counselor.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMSHA)

SAMSHA has a 24/7 hotline 1-800-662-4357 for both individuals and their family members who are suffering from substance abuse or mental health disorders. They also offer many resources for those who are in search of mental health support.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

For those seeking support with domestic violence issues, the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers a 24/7 hotline. At the moment they warn there is a 15 minute wait to speak to a counselor — as always, if you need immediate assistance, call 911. They offer 3 ways to connect: call 1-800-799-7233, text “START” to 88788, or chat with a counselor on their website.

2-1-1 Bay Area

2-1-1 Bay Area provides support to those seeking social services such as counseling, shelters, child care, food banks, and employment assistance. You can dial 211 to be connected with someone who will help you find services near you. If you prefer to text, you can text your zip code to 898211 for info on services as well.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline

If you’re in need of immediate support, the National Suicide Hotline (988) is available at all times. Simply dial 988 and you’ll be connected with a crisis counselor. They also provide support via text and chat if you’re uncomfortable speaking over the phone with a crisis counselor. In addition to their crisis text line, they have a lot of resources available.
